American History in a Box Level IIChildren in 2nd and 3rd grade will enjoy this box. The box is also appropriate for younger children who can read chapter books or older children without a lot of exposure to American History.

The box includes a United States Atlas, non-fiction, historical fiction, art supplies, and an activity book based on the U.S. Common Core Standards and Virginia Standards of Learning. We also include four games. Topics include geography, the Colonial Period, Native Americans, Industrialization, and important Americans.

Worksheets in the book include map activities, state reports, illustrations, journaling, charts, question and answer sheets, paragraph writing, and comparisons. We also include a page titled “What your child should know” at the beginning of each section and another titled “Questions to ask your child” at the end of each section. Use these to generate family discussion and debate.

Some books and games may be substituted depending on availability. Unfortunately, some books go out of print or are temporarily unavailable. Due to our small size, we don’t keep a large inventory. We will make sure your substitutions are fun to read, historically relevant, and age appropriate!
